    Well then backt to topic:

If you do retire your generals then do you take a look at where he would like to govern? Maybe in a province he has conquered (and enslaved/exterminated the populace) to make good for his bad deeds? Or do you guys simply send him to the first province in sight?

Generally, when my Basileus retires I send him to the capital. If he is some good Startegos, I send him to a province that needs governing. If he's just an incompetent fool, I send him to the borders of the Basileion to defend against some hostile territory.

I usually set up 'regional capitols' of sorts in crucial areas to put my better commanders after they've killed any opposition, and from there they can be rushed out to any city that needs them, but usually if nothing is going on they can do whatever they wish in the city they had been sent to, so long as they don't piss everyone off in the process.

As for me I try to retire him, but it just means they do not go to war, but they are kept in charge of the strategical planning while youngers goes to battles

depends on traits... if they are still lively and active i'll keep em goin. But if they become decrepit crazy old men, then it's time for them to take a break.

Hehehe, some of the crazy old bastards you get in EB get pissed when you try to put 'em on the shelf. Just like some of my crazy old relatives, but yeah, I retire 'em if they are getting sick too often or too depressed. That is if they are not totally anti-social beasts, they get a nice little town, if they can get management through traits or ancillaries, they get a city, if they are "not fit for civilized company", they get the "senior military advisor" position in a fort and rebel hunting to pass the time. If they're just cantankerous old fraks that won't sit still, they get to stay in the army with their "boys".

The inhabitants of Barbaropolis are currently my slaves while I reform and reorganize my armies. Worry not my fellow Romaioktonos, the stupid barbaroi will inevitably anger me by their inability to behave as proper humans, and will thus be cleansed from the face of the earth. (in my current Qart-Hadast campaign.)

Well I maybe tied up with infighting with the Adeui... but don't worry. Once Rome throws in the sponge (I'm going to sack the crap out of Rome) Pella will be next... Then the General of those endeavours will be granted retirement. ooooo I can't wait to see thousands of cowardly greeks running at the sight of what a real pair of bollocks look like.

Why all those hatefull comments on Romans? I'm Sweboz and I like Roman... very much even... have you ever tried them with a subtil orange sauce, sweetened by olive oil, cut in small cubes and cooked on the grill, then brush the sauce over, add grilled onions to the plate and serve still hot... Romans are great also when boiled with onions, carrots, potatoes, ass really little flavour, spices and you got a good roman soup, sweboz style!

Of corse, it's romans... so remember to always wash your food before cooking!

Bah... eating romans will almost guarantee you get a lot of brain disease... they eat too many Lead (Pb)

Retire them in a province they conquer is nice, but (for Alex-EB users) if they become too peaceful, their god will grant them an elixir to become 16 y old again...

I'm a Celt!!!!! Calling me my people's destroyer is a huge offence to me! They raped our women and destroyed our culture! Rome was definitely the true barbarians. Destroyer of cultures, thieves of technology, and the bringer of the terrible plague that spreads across the world today. MODERN RELIGION!

It is a good thing you had the restraint to not call me "Romaioktonos" They are the same to me as the 12th SS in Normandy, or the British in Eire.

Maion If you have 1.1 still... I'd like to show you how we fight. With our own inventions and style of combat. Not with stolen tactics, weapons and armour.

IIRC, Romaioktonos means killer of Romans in Greek. (Greek speakers, please correct me if I'm wrong.)
