Default Looking for a good hack 'n slash

My room mate recently bought a PS3, and though I think most console games are kind of crappy, I've been looking for a decent Hack 'n slash, and unhappilly, not many of those are released on computer.

I haven't made up my mind yet, but there are a few ones I consider:
    - God of War I or II
    - Devil May Cry 4
    - Assassin's Creed
    - Prince of Persia (any one of those)

    Any advice ?

For pure hack & slash, I think a Dynasty Warriors game would suit fine. Don't expect a whole lot of subtlety or nuance to the gameplay, but for pure, pg-13 carnage, it can't be beat, in my opinion.

I don't really consider the games listed as "pure" hack and slash- Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed, and God of War I know entail a lot of platforming, though I haven't ever played a Devil May Cry game. Not that they aren't all quality games, but they aren't really all hack and slash is all.
It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then, the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.

DMC is all about hack an slash, or atleast from what I remember. I second the Dyanst Warriors nomination.

Assasins creed. provided me with many hours of challenging gameplay, not to mention fun gameplay.

DW is a lot of fun, playing on the keyboard hurts a bit though.

Cool store, bro! I want some ham.
    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?

Well, I dunno, these games (Assassin Creed included) are described as Hack 'n slash in my country. I know this one and Prince of Persia don't have a lot of hacking and slashing, but you still have to run around with a sword and kill some bad guys with nice-looking moves.

I don't really mind the plateforming part of those. From what I've seen, running on walls and doing cool stuff like that looks pretty awesome.

I tried Dynasty Warriors on PS2, and to say the least, I think it was terrible. Smashing the same 2 buttons to kill half a thousand guys who just look at you without trying to hurt you is not my definition of fun. That, and the voice-acting was the most ridiculous I've ever heard. I liked the Lord of the Rings games on PS2, too bad there's not a PS3 version of those.

I just heard about Edge of Twilight. The game seems really nice and fancy, and I like the steampunk background. But apparently, the game won't be released anytime soon.

Your kidding right? Best acting ever!

    "ITS LU BU!!!!"

"RAWR IM LU BU, IM GUNNA KILL YOU FOOLS etc etc"

Then you button smash. That IS a H&S. Some characters aren't fun to play, but I cant get tired of the cool looking moves...

    Again with the voices:
As they said in futurama "You can't just have characters say how they feel. That makes me angry!"

I say that if you buy this, don't. Waste of cash glitchy and buggy. It's not even worth the rent.

^- this. And forget about PS2 games, God of War 1 and 2 are great, but the PS3 can't run them.

My room mate has a PS2 too. I went for LotR: RotK. We can play together, and it was only 10€, so meh, why not.

My next aim will probably be God of War I or/and II, as I found those for 9€ each at the local store. Then I'll see what I can find for a PS3, if possible not a 70€ game.

Frag, your game looks cool. I especially like the "Demon's Souls is deeply tactical, preferring to pit you one-on-one against vicious and high-level enemies that can use the same tactics, weapons and magic as you rather than drowning you in a sea of lesser foes.". The mindless bots of Dynasty Warriors killed the game for me.
