Thread: Economy again?!

  1. #1

    Default Economy again?!

Do you believe that we are in this economic crisis we have today because most humans don't look at what will be happening in the next 100 years instead of the next 10?

Like I'll use gasoline for instance. It was abundant and seemingly endless back in the 20's,30's,40's,50's and so on, but now we look at is coming to an end soon. Now imagine if we looked at the possibility that it wasn't endless, that maybe we should use alternate fuel. If we started alternate fuel research even in the 50's at the beginning of the cold war, we might be a lot better off.

I know I've read that the Japanese look at the distant future and not the near future when they make their companies and set their schedules.

    What do you guys think.

Very rarely does man look beyond the "next meal", meaning we have neither a long-term outlook or a review of past events. Those who master history master the future.

    Have you just been dumped?

I ask because it's usually something like that which causes outbursts like this, needless to say I dissagree completely.

I know what your saying, I always heard as a kid that the past is behind you. But heck, there is also the saying "Those who don't know the past are doomed to repeat it."

From what I've seen those who do know the past tend to repeat it just fine. We're very good at responding to immediate, tangible crises. Not so good with long-term ones. This is as much a blessing as a curse. (Think of every crisis that turned out to be false and you'll see what I mean.)
