I never know how to use those units correctly. Low armor, low lethality, can't really stand in the battle line. Advice?

In short: keep them away from missiles, get the enemy engaged at your line, run them around and then attack the rear, they first throw javelins in the back, then attack and scare the hell out of whatever guy stands there, YOU WIN.
