ARe they even Germanic? Their faces would make me think so, with the open mouths screaming ;P. But their spears seem more Celtic design. And the cape and their colours are a bit meh. I believe the Germanic cloths which were found featured a long cape and more colourfull then shown here.

Perhaps Belgae. They do look a lot like Celto-Germanic spearmen from EBI.

I'd say undercover Peltastai Makedonikoi or Arcani :P

their "footwear" does not look very germanic(or belgian) more like the things the Iberians wear in EB1. would work with their dark hair and the fact that they are unshaved(Xathoz would be shaved or at least not ashairy as them afterall they are certainly not Jugunthiz ;) ). ignoring the lack of the stereotype Iberian Shield painting I'd suppose they belong to a Celto-Iberian or at least Pyrenean faction(forgot their name right now but y'all know what I mean ;)

edit: would also fit with "my" theory that this occultus sig is a bull -> Spainiards like Bulls :D

btw the shield painting does look VERY unelaborate compared to may others. don't get me wrong I love how it looks as if it was self painted by the warriors.

Edit: I'm a silly Hellen, wrote Arcani with k XD

To give one little tip, actualy the shoes are of germanic origin:

Just some simple leather shoes and under some socks if you can call them that.

Alright, next guess. they have some connection to Germania (their shoes - I can't believe you guys implemented that detail into the model, you obsessed nerds) but they are too dark to be Germans. What if they represent a tribe in the Alpes? Weren't those people darker than their northern neighbours? Also their status as an elite unit is contradictory to their simple attire. Could this be because the mountaineers of the Alpine regions were rather poor? Are we looking upon the finest sons or Raetia?

Who needs shiny armour and cool weapons when you got skill but at least they have some huge spear heads to make up for that and large shields.
That's what makes elite units, some may fight light some may not.

    And from alin on TWC:
    LaTene shield designs .
Thus a border region. Alpine, Noricum, Netherlands or South Germany.

edit: If there are leather shoes, maybe there are Bog Body... Netherlands, Jutland, Uchte and Windeby in Germany, ...

"Elite" may be a bit over-stated perhaps. They're comparable to the triarii, though, for their own culture.

Hum. They're quite dark (uniformly so) for people from that region. I mean, I know a guy who is actually named after that tribe, and he looks like an Arab, but that's 21st century and even today an exception.

Are they the Longhaired Companions then?

Speutagardaz could also be possible seeing the huge spearheads, no reason to think they would use the small strap shields from EBI. If they were front liners then they would definately use an large shield. Romans said the Cherusci front liners used large spears and those behind ordinary spears. So could be possible I gues. Didn't Tacitus or someone else said that it wasn't weird that iron was sparse because some Germanics used huge spearpoints?(Speutagardaz?)

At least nice to know its an Germanic unit ;).

You said we could gues its name on Twitter so its not a new unit. Its an existing one in EBI and probably completely remade. It seemed like an Belgae unit or Celto-Germanic unit but you said that wasn't true. Then seeing Germanic shoes and influences it definately seems Germanic.

I gues I'm with Speutogardaz then.

Seems to me Polybian Triarii helmets.

Am more wondering on the identity of those Germanic or Germanic like units though.

No I didn't say that I said on twitter, but if you can guess region/faction/name of the unit. It can be one of those, all three of those or combinations.

Wrong answers related to the helmet too.

    EDIT:

BTW I'll set a deadline, on the 23rd June. If no one answers correctly then no bonus will be given but at least it, mystery, will be revealed.

he seems a bastard so i´m going on a long shoot and say basternae wich will be the getae and the bosphorian kingdom new neighbours \o if we can´t have a skythian kingdom then we destroy them imediatly by surrounding them (not claiming the basternae are a new faction since their info isn´t probably sollid enough to make a faction)

    Not terrifically off-base either...

So it's more or less close to the Bastarnae, according to TWC they got La Tene shield designs and they are wearing germanic shoes...

    Lugians maybe?
