Normally I find myself going in a completely different direction from the victory conditions, or submitting to the urge to start a new game once my empire in my current one becomes too powerful to be a challenge, but after several years of playing EB I finally finished a campaign.
Started by abandoning almost all of my settlements and driving my economy down the drain for the first decade or so (not far into debt but just around the 0 mark). Slowly reconquered Africa, had multiple nasty wars with the Ptolemies, and took Iberia after a long war with with the Lusitani. Rome was depressingly easy to defeat. I was hoping to face Marian legions rather than armies of Vigiles...
The campaign isn't quite done. The KH has formed a superpower and sinks any fleet I put out, no matter how powerful. Once I reestablish Carthage as the supreme naval power I'll be happy with the campaign.
