Over-installing RTW?

I reinstalled RTW (with appropriate patches) and EB 1.2 (with all fixes) for the ump-teenth time and suddenly a bunch of sprites are missing! They're also missing in TIC and even vanilla RTW. Did some re-installs of each and exact same issue. Is is possible that the discs somehow aren't copying 100% of info anymore? Anyone else ever hear of this?

If they are missing EB sprites then they are obviously not in TIC or Vanilla and it is likely that you forgot to apply a fix or that you found a bug... The validator is your friend here; as is the "Important Information for Forum Users" sticky (and in particular the individual thread that are listed in there).
If they are RTW sprites then you have probably not installed the patches correctly.
If they are missing TIC sprites you are looking in the wrong tech support forum.

I doubt it is the installation media. They may only have a lifetime of about 20 years (which really isn't very much) but when the media are bad then its file system is corrupted which should manifest itself in your OS telling you that it cannot read or recognise a file, the disc and/or mount the disc's filesystem.

I know that TIC is in the wrong forum, just thought I'd mention it here to show that it's not just EB. Guess I never used the validator since up until a month ago I never had this problem, it was just when I reinstalled. I reinstalled everything the exact same way as when I had it before and everything else works perfectly. I thought it was something I hadn't done right with EB but when it happened in vanilla and TIC too I thought it might be something else. It seems a little strange that they're gone in all 3...works fine otherwise but I've got horses riding around with armor floating above them. Pretty creepy...

Edit: I have done this 5 times now since it started, each time making certain of the steps I took when I installed. And I have RTW v.1.5 on the cds so I don't need to patch that, but it still has the missing sprites.
