No, but the infector knows who he infected, right?

You infected Atheotes, so you know he is now the next infecter, if he dies, it would spell the end for the Mafia as they are unable to infect again. So by defending Atheotos like that, you could be subtly saying "Hey Pal, I know its you, lets make sure you stay alive".
