Well the Grenzers do not seem to be in the game still! I thought they were fixed but they seem to be gone again.
There is also the matter of machine rifling need to raise them, but they are not a rifle unit. Their range is 90 like other light units.
So far as I know they didn‘t carry rifles. Infect they may have been the most poorly equipped units in Austrian service. They were mean though and the French loved them so much the took them into French service until 1814.
When the game was first released I applauded the fact that the Austrian Jaegers were a rifle unit available form the start. They just could not use light tactics until it was researched. They did something historically correct and then they changed it. Why?
Now Austria has only they two air rifle companies...though 1500 of the rifles were made and sent into military service. More were made but sold on the civilian market.
Worse though is that the Austrian Jägers did use rifles. More than a third of each unit was equipped with rifles from the start.
The Austrian light infantry consisted of 200 Tyrolean Jäger Companies of 50-200 men each (many were hunters), Charles' Legion, Vienna Volunteers and Jägers.
The jägers in the 1st and 2nd rank were armed with short muskets, while those in 3rd rank with rifles. The NCOs also carried rifles. The riflemen carried not 60 but 100 rounds of ammunition.
I don‘t know what the sense of taking away the rifle units from Austria was. They were one of the first to use them. The French were the ones who didn‘t use rifles, but you see their stupidly was not held against them and they have rifles...but no Dragoons!!! What is with this stuff anyway?
