Thread: The RTW AI vs Kingdoms AI
Skullheadhq 13:19 06-30-2009
What are the differences. Is the kingdoms Ai better? What does it do better. I owned the AI in crusades with ease? I think Kingdoms is easier then RTW and that is already so damn easy/

I think that in M2TW stats is the problem, not the actual AI. if u mean the crusades, all you have to train is Dismounted knight of Jerusalem / Antioch.... and let those Muslims die trying to poke them with your spears... Swordsmen are crazy attackers in M2TW..... but if U play as the Saracens.... Their pitiful Christian armour (even mail only 5 wth?) made them really easy horse archery targets... no matter.... M2TW kingdoms : Crusaders has the weirdest stats...... and most unbalanced

Playing SS I noticed that the AI always deploy cavalry on the flanks, and never tries a suicide mission by charging head on. Also the use of missile cavalry is quite different from RTW, usually the AI tries to outmaneuver his opponent. What irritates me in SS is that the AI recruitment of spearmen and light infantry, the cheapest it can get, this makes battle line too easy to break.

Cheers.

thats odd. while once in a while i fight stacks of cheap militia, it is only when a faction is no its last legs. i generally am faced by a force largely composed of the most advanced troops available to the enemy. (i have ss 6.2)

That's probably because of how the recruitment works in that game with its 'war council member' thing to limit recruitment. Usually I just have some dude sit back home and sell war bonds nonstop.

There is no 6.2 for SS. 6.1 was the last one to come out.

Look at the sub-mod section of the SS-forum tls, there you will find this little thing called 6.2.

Personally I prefer Broken Crescent (2), it's representation of the "East" is amazing. And their units are stunning, like the Eastern Roman Empire Bodyguards:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Back on topic: I think the (modded) AI of Kingdoms is far superior to that of Rome, particulary the diplomacy. Marriage alliances almost always last.

You sir are correct, my apologies. I dont surf the sub forums much over there so I missed it.

So is it possible to just port EB1 to M2TW and slightly mod the AI?

There are a whole bunch of changes in the MTW2 game engine that the team wants to take advantage of. Most recent example is with normadic factions and the whole city/castle settlement thingy. So whether its possible or not to just port it over the EB team has decided not to be like CA and make an almost exact copy of their game, but to instead recreate it.

Another point, If they were going to port it over exactly then why are we even waiting for EB2 when we have the original on our computers already. I am happy with the wait, every day that I wait is another day that these guys are working changes into the new system. (jeez, and now I sound like a sycophant...)

Yes, the whole point of EBII is to recreate EB1 in all possible aspects and not just porting the models, skins, traits, texts, etc, to the new engine. We recognize that this is a huge task, but we work everyday on it.

on the subject of the AI, is it possible to avoid those silly bridge battles? I see the potentiol of kingdoms AI to avoid stupid field mistakes, so why no bridge battles?

I spent 18 minuts of my time recording elites being thrown away by a hopelessly incompetant AI just yesterday.

Don't think so.

BC is amazing, though still a tad unbalanced. So I completely reworked the EDU - and my game is amazing for it. Though I was too lazy to change costs.

A fantasy unit I created in BC. How does it look? The above is my profile pic on youtube fyi

I agree with you, BC is amazingly good graphically, it is a real pleasure to the eye. But i´m not too fond either of the gameplay, i much prefer a system similar to SS or EB, i find the playability of them is excellent.

Oh an yes, your unit looks well... small, what´s that supposed to be? a kataphract with a two handed mace?

So it would be a waste of time to just port it myself for a better AI?

Why am i having visions of Seleucia going to war with a neighbor and it decides to pack its entire army onto a ship and invade the Casse.

If Casse is still in EB II
