Too bad the Emergency Session is on a weekend...
Well if I shouldn't answer immediatelly it's more likely for OOC reasons than for IC ones.

I've got to drive up to NYC for the weekend. Hotel has wifi, but I won't be in it very much so my participation will be a bit reduced once again. I'll be back home tomorrow afternoon.

My 2 cents (based on past conventions in these kind of games):Originally Posted by Ramses
1. Time freezes during Conseil sessions (no one should touch the save), so I don't see how the Seneschal can be killed during one.
2. If a civil war is declared during an emergency session, then I would imagine edicts imposed by a Seneschal on a hostile player are largely irrevelant when the session ends. I can't see any troops in your stack being disbanded due to an edict if you were at war with the Seneschal.
3. No, Seneschal's are chosen at regular sessions unless there is a vacancy (death, impeachment). The King exercising his perogative is an alternative to an election, so happens when the election would have happened.
Killed in a duel, not killed in a civil war battle. I'm assuming duels are like untimed downs in football; i.e. they happen in the same kind of quasi-real time that the discussions in the Council happen.
I tend to agree with you on point #3, but it isn't spelled out in the rules that an emergency session is necessarily different from a regular council session so I figured I should ask.
We live in interesting times, that's for sure. I hope the guys who let their characters lapse realize what they're missing. We might well end up in two (or more) wars, during a crusade, all happening around a civil war!
I'm going to give OK a chance to respond before Louis considers the compromise proposed in the Council. It hardly seems fair to challenge him and then back off and be reasonable before he has some OOC time to get a word in edgewise.

Ah, alright, I see. Yes, well in that case there would be a vacancy so we would have a new election unless King exercised his perogative. I think the new Seneschal should have a full 10 turns (it's a little unfair to make someone do all the work of Seneschal without getting a decent run at it), but that may be Zim's call.
BTW: re-reading the rules, an emergency session should last for 3 days. So if we say the session started from when you seconded the call, we have around 24 hours until it ends.
Sorry about the King being more quiet than his usual in such an unusual situation but things have gotten nasty in RL... I'm currently negotiating the buying of my new house and selling the old one... So that takes up a lot of my time... and mostly on week-ends...
I'll try to get a grip on things before tonight and should post accordingly...
The King is not dead, yet... (though if we follow AG's suggestions, it might sooner rather than later...)

Good idea on the tournament Braden. I have been thinking about doing one, seeing as my character is part of a Knightly Order and everything, but I won't have the time for it in the near future.

Could anyone give me a link to the rules for duels that we ended up using? There's nothing in the Rules Thread (hint, hint), and I don't want to take something from the pregame discussion without someone else confirming it for me.
The first post of the duelling brainstorming thread is what I consider to be the "final" version of the rules. TheFlax used a somewhat modified version of it for the tournament (e.g. introducing weapon variation). I've cut and paste them into the rules sticky - I think people understand that they are an optional mini-game rather than a part of the rules proper, but the sticky does seem to be the best place to house them.
