Hello everyone I am new to the shogun community although I have been hanging around reading the forum since the old Sword Dojo.

I would just like some tips for playing online. Can you tell me what a good ping rate is and also a few basic strategys just to get me started.

    Thanks Phoenix

ping=latency=400 or lower for us losers with the 56k as for the lucky ppl with cable/other means of internet i could not tell you. as to battles and such get in there and fight so you take some losses. but hey we all do

I'm on cable modem, and I also find that latency above 400 is very likely to drop. I did recently bomb out of a 4v4 which had a very good latency of 150, but the problem was on my end: two other machines on my LAN playing Half-Life online through the same modem connection. I won't do that again.

Play with us friendlies for a while, and then go off into the "competitive" games to make your mark. Play at less than 3000 koku to negate the monk rush. The last few times I went through the battle database for the previous night it showed that virtually every competitive game was played in the spring season. I'd say that's being done to prevent the use of guns.

The VERY best tip I can give you is for online play, is PLAY, PLAY, PLAY.

I was terrible when I started - but I have moved into the ranks of the respectable players.

And don't play friendly - you won't take it as seriously. Play competively, always try to win.

As to actual things to do, there are soooo many posts about this I won't try to duplicate them here. Get into games with multiple players and listen to the advice you WILL be given ;-)

Remember Multi-player games are a little different, try to be a good partner- you're a team! Sometimes you have to take one for the team Also, talk...it helps

Thank you for asking your questions here on the forum instead of getting on the EA server/lobby and asking them there (I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, here).
