Washington Post offers to sell lobbyists access to politicians and it's reporters

"Underwrite and participate in this intimate and exclusive Washington Post Salon, an off-the-record dinner and discussion at the home of CEO and Publisher Katharine Weymouth. ... Bring your organization’s CEO or executive director literally to the table. Interact with key Obama administration and congressional leaders."

Anyone want to explain this one to me? I'm having hard time understanding what the hell they were thinking.

Edit: Ironically, it was lobbyists that reported this, thinking it was unethical....

They were making money by brokering for lobbyists, that's what they were thinking. And now they are retracting amid some of the lamest excuses I have ever seen. Fire the wench, perish the whole idea.
