Thread: year in history bug

    Default year in history bug

Pontos campaign, VH/VH, no submodes, around 240bc when end turn I got 40 popups of all the years in history until 210. From there on, I stop getting the year in history popup with every new year. I am wondering if the script is working or not. Should I go back to an older saved game? Is this one corrupted? Is there a way to tell if the background script is loaded correctly?
Thank you for your kind help.

That's odd. If you load the game again and start the script, does it happen every time?

    Yes it happens every time.
I loaded a previous game before the 40 popups and again I did not have year in history events.
I started a new campaign and this time the script worked fine. My question is, besides this, does it worth it keep playing this campaign or should I consider it a loss? How can I tell if the other function of the script work or not. Thanks.

Update: Also all the government buildings in my cities appear 100% damaged in my last save.
I found an old save that appears to be working right for now, I will go on with it. At last a nice challenge with Pontus on VH. Good work everyone.

You can't tell what other effects it may have, but you can see that it is actually running by checking the last commands in the console when control returns to you after ending turn. IIRC the last command will be setting the date.

Could you please upload your savegame?

Bovi, isn't 210 BC about as far as the thing is actually done. Meaning: there simply are no more pop ups for the OP to be enjoyed because they hadn't been written yet at the time of release? (On the upside EB 2 will feature an extended YIH timeline.)

Yes, 210 BC is the last. However, the years 240 BC through 210 BC should still not all pop up in 240 BC, which is what he's describing. Thanks for uploading the save, I'll download it now and see when I get the time to see what could be going wrong.

Yeah, sorry about that: should've read his post better.
He also described all his government buildings being 100% damaged, though...

@OP: Did you by any chance get the 40 popups when loading the save game after having previously played another faction? That is a known cause of `script problems' (because the script state isn't properly cleared so the state of the old savegame continues to interfere with that of the new one, thereby upsetting the script).

I dont remember exactly how I got the 40 popups , but Im sure I did not play an other faction. Its strange how this last save , when loaded again, the goverment buildings were fine again. Thank you for looking in this, I have loaded an older save and go on with that one. And everything works fine. Just a rare bug.
Now im fighting with after battle CTD, once every 10 battles, must be my only 1 G of ram. But I can live with this.
