    Vastly intruiging.

I haven't the faintest clue what it is about. Preparation for 2012? That seems unlikely.

Personal reasons? She was suddenly propelled to the centre of world attention. I think she really did believe in her own image at one point. It must be hard to return to the dirt of petty Alaskan politics. To dwell amongst the stars and then find your feet back stuck in the eternally soggy mud of Alaska. A state, lest we forget, of a mere 600.000 souls. Must feel awfully isolated and small once one has had a taste of the Big stage.
I guess all the local reporters and all the local politicians know each other on a first name basis. Why, perhaps she asks herself, would Sarah, who rings such a chord in all of America, subject herself to this petty tripe?

Mere speculation. I do not expect to find anything on the internet that will shed some light, so I won't bother. I'm curious to see how this develops.

    686k, mind you!

Yes, this is quite surprising. Her term would have ended in 2010, which strikes me as plenty of time to campaign for 2012.

Now, the last time we went "What's going on?" with a GOP governor was...let's see, Mark Sanford, when he was "hiking" in the "Appalachians". Somehow I don't think this will help her campaign in 2012.

And what's up with her wrapping herself in the flag? Not classy at all.

Yeah, upon further reflection that seems out of character. There are some ethics scandals being bandied about. Maybe she's being a team player and trying to take some heat off Mark Sandford.

Or maybe Obama is really the reincarnation of Richard Nixon...
