    Default Migrations and "what-if" units?

    Hi to all!

First of all I'd like to thank all the people who created EB - the greatest strategy game ever. People who do it without commercial interest are at least saint.

I also liked to know if in EB II will be giben place for possible migrations.

For example, if german tribes conquer Britain or Gaul, could they produce new soldiers, not similar to those in their homelands but not native for this territory. It is strangу to see fir example controlling Italy Empire of Arverni or Aedui, who could noе produce there their own units.

It would be great also if expanding southwest germans could train some kind of East Germanic Heavy Cavalry of later times - like Gothic or Herulian

Maybe it would be ahistorical but history chancge their course fduring the game. Maybe regulate this with the processes of migration (special "building" that takes extremely long time to vuild - 40 moves or so?)

Answering to your last question: I believe you have to be a member to get to edit your posts. Just post a little more and you'll get promoted I think.

In answer to your first question, we just don't have enough unit slots to produce "what-if" units. Even if we did, there are so many actually attested units, it would be difficulty to get started. Finally, where would it end. It seems like a slippery slope that would end with Celtic horse-archers in the steppe, Indian Legionaires in Italy, or Roman Longbowmen in the India.

There is also the unconfirmed possibility that culture will be allowed to spread, causing new recruiting possibilities, like in the Britain campaign of Kingdoms. It is only possible, since the exact details of religion/culture and how they will be used in EB2 have not AFAIK been released. Theoretically, a few of every faction's units could be available universally, and when a particular faction's culture becomes the majority in a province, then those units become available. Theoretically, that is, since that might not be as easy as I suggest, or the EB team might (probably will) go in another direction entirely.

We'll just have to rely on the hope of a more varied regional unit roster.

I think the OP might be looking for something more like this: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1101

There already is a little of that in EB1. Celto-Hellenic Infantry, for example, or Celto-Germanic Cavalry. Heck, for some-odd reason, the Seleukids and Ptolemaioi can recruit Klerouchoi Phalangitai in Gaul. There might be a few units like that from cultural border regions that just have expanded recruitment areas, depending on the faction.

I think this question has already been asked numerous times just from thinking back over the past year. I hope this gets included in the FAQ at some point.

Yeah, that kind of struck me as "lol, odd."

I fail to see what's wrong with those.

I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."

There isn't, in fact, I think they are quite awesome. I was just saying that while there won't be any specifically what-if units, that the game will probably include bigger recruitment areas for units like those, depending on the faction.
