Default saving in the middle of the turn

when you press the end turn button, you give the enemy a chance to attack you right? because its their turn adn they can attack you with their units. so someone attacks me and the battle prescreen pops up. i decide to save because i might get a ctd. true enough, i got a ctd while loading the battle.

so i reload EB and reload the save game during the middle of the turn. i fight the battle without any CTDs and i make it to the next turn. so now i realise that the script was turned on until i saved the game at that battle prescreen. and when i reloaded the game to play it the script was turned off and i finished a turn without the script on.

will this affect my game in any way?

just ask me if you need clarification

Having the script turned off for a turn or two, even with a few battles in between, won't make too much of a difference, no.

Yes it will. For one thing, the money script will not run for the remainder of the turn. Same holds for population replenishment scripts. The more factions that need to have their turn, the worse its effect.

Eleutheroi turns are relatively safe on these counts.

In my experience though, it often leads to various script "novelties". According to one character it might be spring, according to another Winter / Summer movement restrictions may apply. This also seems to be true of Autosaves.

In general, the best course of action is to save your game before you hit the end turn button. If you are forced into battle, reloading that save game at another point in time (if you have to leave for work / school / whatever) should result in the same AI behavior.

Sure, it will have consequences. But they aren't huge, and I rarely notice them. But then I do suppose he did say 'any' consequences, so I stand corrected.

I always save my games before ending the turn, but I also save them after each battle I have fought during a turn. Too many times have I won great or difficult victories two or three times a turn, only for the fourth battle to crash EB, forcing me to fight all those battles again. You rarely get the same results or the same AI activity.

It has some minor consequences, but don't bother.

    What I always do is:
    1. Save before battle.
    2. If a ctd occurs, reload.
    3. After the battle, press and hold "o" (it triggers the diplomacy scroll and the advisor to pop up), and quickly activate the script.

To be sure that it works right, you must not press space at any time, otherwise diplomats and armies of other factions will walk quickly and you won't have time to reactivate the script before your turn arrives.

I have sussed that I get CTDs for every 2.3 battles in the Iberian peninsula, I thus do the save in enemy turn trick a lot, and have not noticed any ille effects, there may be some, but if so they are so minor I care not. In the future I will try the "O" way of activating it. That is a smart move.

at least I get some "missing time syndrome" when I save at the middle of the turn (eq, summer, and then winter, and then spring... where's the autmn?!? or spring, and then winter....) But that's fine anyway, if u like to see your character dies quicker... and mistimed schedules (I try not to save in the middle of the turns again after knowing that...)
