saving in the middle of the turn

I've often gotten round a persisntent CTD by ending a turn with the script off, switching back on next turn. I never really noticed any major problems and I played all the way to AD14!
One way to reduce battle CTD's is to leave the battle results screen on for at least 30 seconds, I give it a good minute after a crucial heroic victory, it really cuts down on CTD's (This is a RTW not an EB bug!)

Well, you are right I think about the Heroic Victory thing. It seems to me that it is often after a Heroic Victory.

Cute, I do not usually play when drunk, so no beer for me after Heroic Victories for they seem to come in groups.

For me (as Roman or Suebi) the CTDs are almost nonexistant in the East, in the west against Carthage and Luso they happen all the time, sometimes after every battle
