Mines and mining income

I wasn't really sure where to ask this so i hope its in the right place.

I built the lowest level of mining in Reghum after reading the building description and seeing that it said Mining income+2000.When i checked the financial page though it shows my mining income as 650.

So i guess my question is the mining income in the description per season or is it broken up over the year?

I don't know if it refers to income per annum but you have to keep in mind that the number of mines varies from province to province. Brettia, where Rhegion lies, has only one mining site and thus a base mining income of 600 (1500 when upgraded).
The richest provinces when it comes to mines are Makedonia and Dalmatia, with 3 mines each, which grants you a base mining income of 1800 (4500 when upgraded).
Any additional income is generated by some trait or ancillary of your governor.

Mining income is earned every season, regardless of the good or bad harvests, regardless of whether the city is under siege...

I noticed a similar correspondence between the number of mining hills shown on the map and the return mines give you. There are two types of mining places: the smaller copper ones and the bigger gold ones. The former gives you a 600 per mine, the latter gives you more.

However, some provinces (like Arretium) give a mining symbol, but no possibility to build a mine, which makes me belief the markers on the map are there partly for animation purposes. Therefore I too advice to preview the mining income in the settlement details by listing the mining complex in the recruitment viewer.

Copper doesn't need a mine. Mines can only be built in provinces where gold or silver is a resource. Therefore no mine available in Arretium. The resource just looks similar to the gold/silver mines on the campaign map which can cause confusion. If you mouse over a mine in a province where mines can be built, it should say either large or small vein precious metals. Not sure if there is a difference between those two though.

I got confused by the + 2000 income description and figured that would be how much i would make per turn.

So the mine in reghum will take about five years to pay for itself?I guess in the long term that will be a big boost in the short term though i suppose i could have fielded another army.

That still doesn't seem to explain where that +2000 means.
Why not just say increase in mining income like it does with trade? Or + however much you get from silver and + however much you get from gold?

it depends of the city population.
I've tried it myself and with a 500 people population I've got 3400 mnai in Rhegion.
The best way to "reduce population" is to raise the tax and recrute millitary troups from that settlement. Recruiting troups is the best way to control the demographic progress of your settlement and to get a better income.

Mines are probably the best investment in EB, a mine producing 600 per turn will pay for itself in 24turns/ 4years after that it's pure profit, and in a game where you can play over 1000 turns. I wish my investments had a return like that!
Some provinces, such as Pella, with a character with the right traits can earn several thousand a turn.
I guess the 2000 per turn is a throwback to the two moves in RTW, plus the EB turn wanted to simulate different resources being worth more.
