    Default The Duchy of Bourgogne

    The Duchy of Bourgogne

    Dukes of Bourgogne:
    1. Raymond I de Provence

    Provinces of Bourgogne:
    • Burgundy Proper (Dijon): 1080 - Present

    Nobles of the Bourgogne:
    Current:
    • Raymond de Provence: 1080 -
    • Gaspard de Neufville: 1081 -
    • Hermant Mauvoisin: 1081 -

In order to join the Duchy of Bourgogne, a hopeful vassal must first swear an oath to the lord he wishes to serve in the following manner

I, vassal's name, swear this oath to lord's name: When you call me to war under your banner I shall answer with all the forces I command, and I shall always do so, fighting under your banner with loyalty and courage. This I swear before the Lord.
If he accepts, the lord must respond:

I, lord's name, accept the oath of vassal's name and I swear this oath in return: Your life and property, including your titles and land are now under my personal protection. Should they come under threat I shall marshall all the resources at my disposal to see that they are not lost. This I swear before the Lord.
Only when these oaths are sworn can two men be recognized as lord and vassal in the Duchy of Bourgogne.

I, Gaspard de Neufville, do solemnly swear fealty to Raymond, Duc de Bourgogne, if he will accept me.

Aha! Gaspard, well met! The Duchy of Bourgogne is happy to accept you! Let us cement our ties with the swearing of mutual oaths, which I have just finished and placed at the front of our meeting hall.

Very well, I accept your oath!

Furthermore, I, Raymond de Provence, accept the oath of Gaspard de Neufville and I swear this oath in return: Your life and property, including your titles and land are now under my personal protection. Should they come under threat I shall marshall all the resources at my disposal to see that they are not lost. This I swear before the Lord.

    Well met, Gaspard de Neufville.

I, HolyGateKeeper the Archbishop of Worms, swear this oath to Cecil XIX the Duke of Burgundy: When you call me to war under your banner I shall answer with all the forces I command, and I shall always do so, fighting under your banner with loyalty and courage. This I swear before the Lord (and Saint Peter).

Oops I mean Archbishop of Cologne, in the medieval times, the archbishopric of Worms did not exist back then.
