I don't think there's a way to tell for Gentlemen vs Gentlemen but Rake vs Gentlemen you can tell.

yeah my videos are choppy too. From what I can tell, they usually wear a hat/scarf or something barely noticeable that resembles your nations' colors.
I never watch them but it strikes me that finding out would be as simple as watching the video, taking note of who wins, and then seeing whether you won or lost when it goes back to the campaign map. Or is that too obvious?

Maybe it's attacker/defender? So the attacker is one colour, defender is another?
