    Default Army stuck in fort

Well something weird just happened, and I think I may have just lost one of my best armies.....

I am the British, and have been at war with France for a long time. I moved my army into the Artillery fort just east of Paris and ended turn. The french army attacked, I destroyed them and they were sent running all the way across France. There is no army in Paris, so come Savoy's (my Protectorate) turn they invade and take Paris. My turn, and France has been destroyed. I go over tom my army and they are still sitting in that fort...... and I can't take them out. The animation is that of them being in a open field, and they cant move or do anything.

    anyone else had this problem?

They should have been moved out of the fort when Savoy took France...

I don’t know what the glitch was but the best thing to do is back up to the last turn and do it again from the end turn...

I will probably end up doing that, I went through about 3 pretty difficult battles since that save. I think I did not move because I have military access to the area, still pretty annoying.

Yes but, you should have been kicked out of the fort if it belonged to a friendly faction. Only enemies can occupy towns, ports, or forts. You were stuck in-between.

I've had the same problem when I occupied a Polish fort as Prussia. I made peace with Poland and my armies were expelled from polish lands except my units in that fort. I tried everything I could think of to get them free but notheing worked.

So I'm afraid you'll have tostart an earlier save game and make sure you don't occupy the fort when France makes peace/is destroyed.

Although I have no idea how to actually do it, isn't it theortically possible to move them out by editing your save file with an ESF editor?
