Question Some questions about swords, AP, and unit list vs ablilties at a glance

In the unit list sometimes it will say "Armor Piercing". In the game under 'abilities at a glance' it sometimes says "effective against armor". Is there a difference?

For example, Anatolian Hillmen have AP (unit list) and effective against armor (abilities at a glance), but Cappadocian Hillmen have AP (unit list) but do not have 'effective against armor' (abilities at a glance).

Scordisci Elite infantry are highly acclaimed, some say the "best" sword unit in the game. But in unit list I did not see AP ability. Is the unit list accurate on this?

I also see Northern Gallic merc swordsmen, Galatian Shortswordsmen, Southern Gallic merc swordsmen, Galatian "wildmen", & Karian Warband all do NOT have AP in unit list while Iberian light infantry & Apeleutheroi (??) DO have AP in unit list. Is this all accurate?

And I could not find Pezoi Brettioi (Bruttian Infantry) in Unit list. Do they go under a different name & do they have AP ability?

I don't know what unit list you are referring to, but here is a general overview:

All falxes, clubs, maces, axes, hammers, two-handed swords, underhand cavalry lances, kopis/falcata swords, elephant tusks, sling bullets, artillery projectiles, soliferra, and pila are AP, which is of course the same as "effective against armour".

Keltoi long swords are not AP. Skordiskoi swords are not AP; additionally they have a low lethality (.12), but a decent attack. Cordinau Orca are renowned for their armour and general martial prowess, not for special AP attributes.
Kopis/falcata swords as wielded by many Iberian and Hellenic units are AP (unlike most other swords) but have a low lethality (.11).

The falx-like sica "swords" wielded by some Dacian units are not AP; they have a normal lethality (.13).

Apeleutheroi are not AP, they are useless.

If a unit has a ranged precursor attack, the AP attribute of the melee weapon will not appear in the unit description, even if the javelin itself is AP (as is the case with Asturian or Rhaetic Axemen).

Pezoi Brettioi have AP pila but a normal sword.

Generally speaking, when in doubt look up the unit's actual stats in the EDU. Though the name by which they're listed there sometimes differs quite a bit from the one that appears in-game - in such cases, look it up from their export_units.txt (in the "text" subfolder) entry.

I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."
