Default How to enable vanilla music?

Not sure if this has been asked before or can even be done. I love everything about this mod but after playing for a while now I'd like to get back to the vanilla music. Just the music, I want to keep all the Latin, Greek, etc. voice mods intact.

I'm using 1.2 with the BI.exe but if possible can you say how it can be done with both BI.exe and RTW.exe. Thanks.

Why would you want to hear Vanilla music? EB music is so much greater!

You are spamming and not being helpful at all, Jebivjetar.

As a matter of fact, I would like to see this thread answered too since I have gotten and am about to get some music (Mvsica Romana) which I wish to add to EB, so any comments will be of great help to me too.

Surely, with so many modders, at least some have tried adding music?

Just go to the Data folder, and look for Descr_sounds_music.txt

Replace it with the vanilla file.

Then, go to the vanilla Data/sounds/music folder and copy paste the tracks into the EB data/sounds/music folder.

Yes, but that would replace EB music with vanilla. I believe the OP wanted to add to the EB music. Or so I think... That would require more detailed editing of music text file.

Yes I also want to add more music to the standard EB one, because I've found some very great music, which would perfectly fit into EB.
I must also add that I love the vanilla music, though it might not be as historical as the music in EB.

I also wanted to start a thread where everyone could recommend fitting music for EB or let's say "ancient music" like Musica Romana or other bands. Would you like to see such a thread? I made a search, but I only found "epic music" or "battle music" threads, but not recommendations of bands, which are in my opinion very underground, so it would be helpful to discover new material

It shouldn't be too hard, in theory, it'd just require a lot of time, and a lot of typing

You want to go have a look at EB/Data/descr_sounds_music.txt

Inside, you'll see all of the music split up by different factions and different factors which decide which song to play.
Then you'll want to go to your Vanilla backup (or 1.5 patched or whatever) and find the same folder.

    The first bit-
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    DEFAULT: priority 9999 randomdelay 0 pan .5
    DEFAULT: dry_level 1.0 wet_level 0.0
    DEFAULT: pref MUSIC STREAMED

    required_samples_cutoff 3

;; music events timeout in seconds
;; music state will change to the previous one if no events occured within the time out
    music_timeout 60
    music_retrigger 20

;; music events fade time in seconds
;; fading is used when the music changes from one state to another
    music_fade_in 0
    music_fade_out 3
    music_fade_out_timeout 10

-should be the same in both, if it isn't for some reason, use your common sense and decide which one is more practical.

Now, in your vanilla backup, head to Data/Sounds/Music

For me, it got a little complicated. Instead of folders, I had a combination of .dat and .idx files, so Music.dat and Music.idx. If this happens to you, you'll probably want to go to this site to make it normal and access the files inside.

I didn't actually do that because I'm too lazy , but i'd assume inside you'll find a bunch of mp3s with names like Death_Approaches.mp3.

Copypasta these files into your EB/Data/Sounds/Music folder (AFTER MAKING A BACKUP!!), if you want create a subfolder initially so all of the songs don't get all mixed up.

Then, now here's the fun part , you need to transfer the links from your Vanilla descr_sounds_music.txt into your EB descr_sounds_music.txt into the right places (AFTER MAKING A BACKUP!!).

For instance, you'll want to make sure that you're taking the song locations from the ROMAN MUSIC section into the ROMAN MUSIC section of the EB file.

Etc etc. The only thing i'd be wary about is changing the startup game music. If you change this, make sure there's only one song, eg
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    event
    folder data/sounds/music
    EB_Main_Theme_WIP.mp3
    end

    not
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    event
    folder data/sounds/music
    EB_Main_Theme_WIP.mp3
    CampaignBattle1-Time_2_Kill.mp3
    end

because otherwise it might mess the game up.
It's pretty simple stuff really, i'm not a modder but in theory this should work easy.
