I know that this know all the better player.
So this is definatly for the new Player.

first unit u pic, its ur daymio
u can lower the honour to get more koku

i think the best setup, to train and and become better, is a balanced setup.
If u get better u can change it, how u like.
    (ur Style)

    3 guns
    2 cavarcher
    1 heavycav
    1 yaricav
    4 monks
    3 nodachi
    2 yarisamurai

most player take cavarcher with honour 0
spears (yarisams or ashigaru) kill cav

u can group units, plz read it in ur book
its easy, i try to explain here:
Example: u chooce 3 units (monks)
hold ctrl and leftclick on this 3 units, after this u press ctrl+shift+1 (u can chooce the numbers 1-0)
after this u only need to hitctrl+1
    to select this 3 units
u need it to get faster in game.

i know there are many different styles, like the gunoverload, or monkoverload.....
but with this setup u learn the different units better to use and how they work in battle.
This way needs more time but u will see at the end....

u can experiment yourself with the different honour of the units.

everytime use the groundadvantage, i dont mean that u should camp, but if u defender use ur defending advantage.
and guys plz not in the corner.

    koc

PS: ask if u have a question

    Try again!

Why no archers? And what if it rains? Also, surely this does not allow for much in the way of defending a position?

    Cheers

    hmm,
he might be right there koc. Cav archers r hard to use when new to stw. Maybe 2 normal archers will be better with a bit more honour. cav archers need some more skills and therefore I think you should try normal archers first

thx guys, im always open for any ideas.
sure u can also use normal archer,

i said in my first post:

"This way needs more time but u will see at the end...."

I said this, coz its hard to learn the use of cavarchers, but u realy need it.
And y not start with it?

    everyone can chooce...

a good balanced 5k army to train is this:

    3 Musks H2
    2 Archers H0
    3 Yari Sam H2
    2 Monk H2
    2 Monk H1
    2 Cav archers H1
    2 Yari cav H1

i think the hon values are accurate

Kocmoc we are talking of an army of how much Koku here?

I am all for a balanced army, this is what i use in SP, but will this type of army hold up faced with the monk rushes used in MP?

against a monkrush, a balnced army has sometimes a chance, the point is who u setup.

mostly the balanced army will lose against a monkrush, but wich army not?

i think a balanced army is the best train, to learn how u can use the different units.

u can better react of different setups and u have more tactical options.

If you play a peep with unlimited ammo ON, just get 16 archers, and jack up the honor as high as you can with the koku you have. You will lay waste to all that lies before you, and you will be victorious, though your fighting skills will erode, for you will never meet your enemy face to face...

    Kocmoc:

I have sampled much of this wisdom by reading and asking. I enjoy seeing someone xperienced stepping forward to help the beginners...

I also noted in another thread that you will try to teach players playing them.
EXCELLENT initiative, which I am certain will benefit the community with youngbloods to carry traditions and spirit for times to come. I commend you and hope this will inspire other players to step forward. A have to say though that I view the community in STW as exremely helpful and just. Some guy called RAUBAL beat me dead when I played attacker and asking him after what I did wrong, he simply replied by giving me a match although with him as attacker. I learned so much, being able to adapt a few of his tactics into my own confused array of battle field plans.

    Keep it cranking...

This is army is designed primarily to defeat monk rushing armies
Too many players rely on sheer power for results, reling on speed tact and timing is a far better way to learn
A player who learns to rush monks will never get as a good as a players who learns by defeating rushing monks

P.S. Archers with no ammo are still useful to hold as reserves

yeh i would say Cav Archers r a defenite no no for the STW newbie..they r hard to control and need to be constantly watched for them to be of any use to u at all...

but rest of selection is cool

    Hi Koc

As a messenger of the Khan of Khans i can tell u he supports your initiative to the maximum and perhaps u could better focus on new players. that will give u the bast pleasure/satusfaction ratio.

    Okay, I got a question.

Bearing in mind that YA have a defense: 2 and an attack: 0, is it best to stand with YA or charge? Obviously a lot of this depends on the attack and defense value of the other unit.

sams and ashis (sure and nags)
    are the best holding uits!

in some moments its better to charge as to hold.

u have to c the situation.
