I have not had a chance to play around with the animations Med2, but it is certainly an area that needs alot of work. Are the EB2 team at liberty to chat about what they plan on changing in the animation side of things? Obviously an overhand stance for spearmen needs to be adopted, but what else is important to the team?
(Somewhat off topic...) Most pressing for me, is fixing the animations for the units that use 2H weapons, specifically the axemen. The vanilla animation is painfully slow, dreadfully short ranged, and woefully in-accurate in every way.
This is an issue mainly because it is the polar opposite of how those weapons were used. They were favoured due to their speed, power, reach and offensive versatility. They weren't great defensive weapons, but offensively they were very powerful.
Not as much of a status weapon as a sword, but definetly appreciated as a weapon by the warrior elite, in the periods prior to gun and pike warfare.
But i babble, EB devs, have there been any serious delves into the animation side of things yet? Does animation play an important role in creating new formations?
Also as someone who uses 3ds Max frequently and used to be quite the animator (fell out of practice :() how can i start to experiment with animations? Do i have to use Milkshape? Or are the animations and their corresponding skeletons useable/editable in 3DS Max?
Cheers
