Default The Cleveland Show and the degeneration of a man

so, as some of you know, there is a new show on the way- the Cleveland Show.
i think the show is pretty self-explanatory.
but what i want to rant about is that Seth McFarlane is overdoing himself. he started out funny with family guy, but as the seasons went on, and the introduction of American Dad, he just stopped getting funny. they say after the 100th episode a show loses its charm.
as of now, he has at least 4 shows: family guy, american dad, "Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy" (which is a flop) and now the Cleveland Show.

he is basically taking characters from FG and AD and using them in his new show. the hot wife (both FG and AD), the sassy teenage girl (american dad), the fat kid (FG) and the brainy toddler (FG).
its basically a ripoff of all his other work.
and most likely there will be political references in all the shows which really sours the show. nothing like a nazi wearing a "mccain/palin" button to turn me off from the show.
he has basically turned the shows into one giant political showcase of his beliefs.
its sickening how low a man can get with fame.
    rant over.

Atleast he's ripping off his own work this time.

Complaining you don't like a TV show is like complaining that it hurts when you stare at the sun, if it's that bad then stop looking at it.

Ok, there are some fair points here, but this is the first time I've heard of anyone complaining because a show tries to be more than just fart jokes.

My housemate said she only enjoyed Family Guy because she was drunk anyway, American Dad is hit and miss at the best of times, though the idea that the CIA has a machine that turns water into Cocain was worth a giggle.

Maybe it's not that he's not funny anymore, maybe you've just grown up?

I agree that Family Guy has lost a lot of its charm over the years and the Cleveland show is probably going to be terrible, but American Dad is probably one of my favourite shows. It's consistently funny and isn't the Family Guy rip off that most claim it to be. It's also the only one of his three shows that Seth Macfarlane really haas anything to do with anymore. All he is doing for Family Guy and the Cleveland show is voice work, he really doesn't do any writing for them.

My hatred for everthing Seth McFarlene aside (that's another post for another day), the thing I hate most about this is it's taking the place of King of the Hill, which didn't make a bad episode in its entire run and was still good.

Pah. King of the Hill is an entirely annoying show, in my opinion. Family guy was great for a while, and still has its moments, though fewer and far between than they used to. American Dad had moments as well, but I only watched it if there wasn't anything else on and I was committed to tube at that particular time. Don't plan on watching this new show- why cleveland? A much more interesting show could have been done about basically any of the other neighbors.

In all seriousness, you couldn't put together a seasons' worth of 20 minute episodes about Quagmire, he's too one dimensional.

Quagmires really more of a running gag than a character. His shtick would get old after an episode or two.

It's funny you guys mention a show about Quagmire, i believe McFarlane commented on why such a show could never exist at Comic-con and it comes down to, pretty much, this. Although McFarlane said it much differently I believe...

I just wish he'd concentrate on American Dad, which is clearly the superior show. It actually satirises things...

i agree with you on this. american dad actually doesnt blurt out political statements, unless they clearly are meant as jokes, like family guy does. as i said before, having nazis wearing a mcain/palin button is a big step over the line for me. and the 4/20 episode was all politics as well. its like hes using it to convey his political beliefs, via the medium called Brian.

Ask yourself the question, what about Joseph Stalin wearing an Obama button? Would you respond in the same way?

I dislike most American comedy altogether. The Simpsons is pretty good though.

But he ripped off his own work from the Simpsons, which, sadly, are a shadow of their former glory. Can't say I watch American Dad much, but it seems awfully close to Family guy, just like the Cleveland show. Pretty lame.

My one hope for cartoon entertainment is Futurama. Though the movies weren't that good.
Oh, and that new show 'The Goode Family' from the guy who made King of the Hill.

Drawn Together is quite funny. Though I admit I mainly watch it for Foxxy Love.
