Only (Western?) Hellenic factions get the Strabo traits upon conquering a settlement.

I got a detailed bit of information as the Romans when my FM took Athens off the Maks. How many cities do you get this sort of information for?

It is kind of random. It is based on what Strabo wrote and the team had access to. Since Strabo didn't write about everything and (IIRC) there are some Strabo works that aren't easily accessed, they are a bit random.

It would be nice if this was improved for EB2

i had always assumed you are required to take a city with a family member to get it and only available for the regions that strabo wrote about

Why would you take a city without a family member? Sounds like an exploit to get around the supply traits.

If you didn't have any family members nearby, since they were all governing/campaigning, for instance.

And I've never come across the city descriptions, but then again i've never played as the Romani.

With the EB II provinces system from the preview, Strabo traits will become less important.
