    Default Step into my office . . . .

Something I would love to see put into the game - allow me to set the stage.

After a long period of prosperity and peace as the HRE, the French have decided to roll the dice and crossed the border. I brought in an army to lift he Siege of Metz, then chased the buggers back across the river. One serious drubbing later, I was standing on the field with a VERY large cache of prisoners that the French King decided were not worth the trouble or cash.

Sorry boys, please queue up for the headsman

What I woud LOVE to see is an option to offer the prisoners to the opportunity join your faction. Kind of like offering a bribe, you should be able to call non-faction-heirs into your tent and say "Look, Jean Claude. Your boss has decided that you and your men just aren't worthy of ransom. And that's just cold. But ya know, I kind of like you. You put up a pretty good fight and I respect that. So instead of putting you boys under the axe, I'd like to make you an offer . . . "

lol, I like the way you put it.

That would put an interesting spin on the game as this sort of dealing has happened in history. Mind you, it would throw the game balance out, because as you steamroll more and more enemy forces your own force would become too overwhelmingwith the extra men you pick up.

But a good thought none the less .

    .
Quite true. To offset that, the "New Boss" would be required to front either the ransom or the upkeep cost for the given unit in order to acquire it.

Then, to provide "incentive" for factions to ransom back their units, any unit converted to a different faction would get a morale boost fighting the original

and then some would say no; Imagine that half a unit of spearmen came from a village you plowed through and destroyed, so they won't join you. adding possible desertion would be nice too; join up, bide your time, then....sneak out in the night and warn your king of the enemies plans, or at least move your family out of the way.

it'd be nice, but it is impossible unfortunately. hard-coded things that are not possible to change, ever.

Interesting idea... defection was quite common during these times. If the games allows units to be bribed by other factions or just randomly join the rebels, why not this?

I think what would be nice is the option to imprison rival family members taken prisoner in battle. That's both historically accurate and gives you the option of gainning more generals. They'll be imprisoned until their leader decides to pay the ransom, or they decide to join your forces, or they can rot in the prison cells till the end of their days. The common soldiers can queue up for the headsmen though...
