Hi All,
New to EB and haven't played RTW for a few years. Really enjoying the mod, it's top quality.
Two quick questions. Governors and Garrisons.
Are peasants still available as cheap garrison troops? If not what do you use?
Governors....must a character like a family member always be present in a settlement to control construction? If How do you run large empires like this?
Many thanks for any input.

1: no peasants, but I suggest you employ the cheapest and lowest-tier levy spearmen or skirmishers: Lugoae, Akontistai, Rorarii/Leves, Pantodapoi, Eastern Skirmishers, Iberian Levy Spearmen, Gaizofulkum Frijot, etc. Peasants in the RTW sense were never really employed as fighting troops. But there were peasant levies, whether spear or skirmisher.
2: there is a setting that allows you to toggle whether you must have a governor to build, or you as the player can direct it. It is the main campaign menu, where the family tree, victory conditions, finance, graphs, etc options/overviews are displayed.
1) As mentioned no 'peasants', but I generally use the lowest cost regional infantry unit (ie: as Romani in Italy; Rorarii/Leves. Illyria; Illyrian coastal levies. Sicily; Hoplatai Haploi...
2) Again, as mentioned prior to campaign select manage all Settlements option, although I believe that you may be able to change it in game by going to 'Game Options'

You can build without governors in a settlement even you deselect the manage all settlements. You can alter the option in the construction scroll during the game.
