    Default More agressive AI

Now i know their are mods for more aggressive AI im using alexander with EB atm, but its not aggressive enough.

Casse still sits in britain and never touches main land europe and carthaginian islands never get touched by any other factions. In my romani campaign koinon hellon is stranded on krete and hasnt moved off it nor any other faction attacked it. This kinda takes the whole jist of makin the game realistic.

Will it be the same with EB2 ? and has any 1 got or does any 1 know of a mod that can give this much needed edition to the game?

Edit: i was told that the Vanilla AI is harcoded but i remember when playing the vanilla version the romans invaded north africa and the small islands with ships and also other factions did the same if anything the Ai with EB is less aggressive than the vanilla version thoughts ppl?

I play with Alex.exe as well, and keep my campaign difficulty to Medium to both prevent the AI from going completely berzerk no matter its odds against me (cuts down some on the guaranteed war if you share a border, even if you totally overpower the other faction) and makes the AI diplomacy much more sane as well. I just toggle fog of war on and off every 10 yrs or so and then use the add_money cheat to pour cash into anyone falling behind, such as giving tons of money to Baktria, Parthia and Hayasdan so they can keep the Seleucids at bay.

Many AI factions in my current campaign just never bothered expanding until around 230something, then went nuts vs the eleutheroi cities. Casse just sat around in their capital for 50 yrs or so, then between 245-235bc conquered all of Britain. Not sure how far into your campaign you are, but the AI going from lazy to sudden expansion 50-70yrs into the game has been pretty common in all the Alex campaigns I've played so far.

If you get something like the KH stranded on crete, they aren't going anywhere since using RTW or Alex means you rarely if ever see naval invasions. You could try seeing if they have an army standing around outside the settlement led by a family member, then use the "move_character") cheat to move him and his army back to the mainland of Greece, or wherever and hope he gains some territory.

Going back and trying a few games on the latest vanilla RTW (no lynch mobs please) the AI does, occasionally, perform sea invasions. I've even had them initiate wars via sea invasions (Egypt hitting my garrison on Rhodes, for example.)

Don't get me wrong, EB is far superior in playability but the lack of sea invasion doesn't seem directly tied to the vanilla .exe. That having been said - I've also played EB using the BI.exe and found more frequent (if wholly predictable) sea invasion patters. There may be a combination of factors causing this, but without knowing how it's coded, likely very difficult to pin down.

That's funny, in BI theres plenty of naval invasions, I've seen it a lot. Corsica goes back and forth between Rome and Carthage (unless I play one of them). Every time I play KH someone invades Rhodes, usually an ally (looks at Egypt).

you had me startled there, thought you meant all of the nations should be more aggresive xD
in my armenia campaign the seleucids are going berzerk at me. I've managed to push them back a bit but i've had to strike back, and sadly i can't strike them with full force because the pontic bastards backstapped me even though i was paying 400 gold a turn -.-
EDIT: i can't see how the other nations are doing as for some reason there's no hotkey to bring up the console on my lap top (looked through the options menu s:)

I dont mean just aggression but as said earlier if a faction is stranded on an island they just stay their?

I mean how do the AI romani got reforms if they dont even attack corsica or sardinia? seriously puts me off the fact that iv spent thousands of hours playing a game thatb seems to always play out the same way :(

Will EB 2 be the same any 1 know?

well i can't say for certain, but in med 2 i clearly remember having people invade england (had both portugal and denmark land armies, the portugeese army even managed to capture one of my cities with a pretty strong army)
so if there really should be some naval invasions if everything goes the right way :)

    A few things..

Firstly, download the Victory Conditions minimod. Whilst it might not make the factions necessarily more aggressive, it urges them to expand in more historical directions (well, towards their victory conditions). This means that the Casse, after hopefully uniting the isles, will want to expand onto the continent.

One of the main reasons that the Casse rarely expand is the fact that they lack a shared border with any other faction, meaning they rarely, if ever, are at war with another faction without initiating it themselves. Furthermore, they start off allied with the Arverni and Aedui (regardless of whether those two are at war with each other) and since those factions are most likely to be holding the nearest land to the Casse, the AI hesitates in invading them.

Using alx.exe, you can't expect to see too many naval invasions (compared to BI.exe), since, with a theoretically slightly more 'intelligent' AI, the enemy hesitates to build the costly fleets needed. In BI, a problem was often that the AI focused too much on naval invasions which were pointless and used up their money.

If you want to see a particular faction expanding more, try console funding it for a bit incase it has a far too large army..
