Thread: AI War: Fleet Command.

    Default AI War: Fleet Command.

I read an article about this on rock, paper, shotgun and that in turn led me to one on crispygamer. The pair have convinced me to try it; the demo is downloading.

How could I not try it after reading the following?
Instead, you have to carefully scout the galaxy. You have to work out the best pattern of conquest, understanding that as you take new systems, you'll have to defend them. You want to slowly but discreetly build your economic base, and you want to keep your holdings in as defensible a position as possible (remember the tower defense aspect!). You might simply cripple some systems and conquer others. You might leapfrog more heavily defended areas or maybe roll up a weak galactic flank. It's a 4X game in which you have to devise a grand strategy other than "conquer everything." It's about tough strategic choices.
The AI is meant to be extremely capable too.

The game's currently 30% off as part of gamersgate's weekend offers. £8.25 is pretty tempting if the demo's decent.

Well it's certainly not a 'pick up and play and feel like you have a rough understanding after 20 minutes' game. Have to give the demo another go when I have more time to give it.

AI Wars crossed with Sins of a Solar Empire would be worth seeing.

Just saw this game is now 25% off in Steam too. Has anyone played it significantly since you all first looked at it? What is the replayability like, etc? For £8.24 I may give it a pop, although if it's very hard to get into I may pass as I don't have so much time to play games anymore

Incidentally, it's also available on Impulse for $14.99 (not sure about rates/prices outside the U.S.).

I just wish I could be more interested in this game, but for some reason I'm not. It has a fascinating premise; and by most accounts, the gameplay is excellent and the AI is about as good as it can be in a strategy game. So why doesn't it grab me? Gah!

    10,43€ on Impulse.

Too bad I already pre-ordered Gratuitous Space Battles - pre-orders get to download the beta version immediately, and it's pretty polished as far as betas go. Fun game, I'm looking forward to battling some fleets created by Orgahs... :)
