I downloaded this from Steam yesterday as I heard someone mention it on another thread here and I have to say it's pretty good fun.

It's a simple game and I think the download was only 640Mb but I played it for hours yesterday and then loaded it onto my laptop for when I'm away with work, and it was less than a tenner..

So, funnily enough you are an evil genius ala Dr Evil or Prof Moriarty (Sp?) who has just returned from a long break, not sure if it was holiday or prison time as I didn't watch the intro. So you find yourself on an indeterminate island somewhere, someplace, which happens to have a nice mountain in the middle which is just ideal for building an underground base.

So the first thing is to hire some minions, which are the basic construction workers, later on you can train them up to be soldiers, techs or diplomats. Pretty much from the off you are given missions to accomplish which take place both on your island and on the global map. The global map is where you send your minions to performs various acts of skullduggery, mayhem and/or theft and it's here that you make your money and steal your upgrades.

I haven't got much further than this as when I moved to my laptop I lost my progress but so far I'm having great fun, has anyone else tried it, got opinions or tips?

This interested me when it first came out (I remember playing the demo) but I heard it didn't have that much replayability and got boring quite fast so never got it. I guess as you've only just started you won't have met these issues yet but has anyone else played it and got bored or did/do you come back to it? Additionally, is there a sandbox mode or similar, or are you forced to play through the missions only?

Edit: Oh, and does it work with Vista as it's fairly old now?

I think you could be right about replayability, time will tell I suppose.

As far as I know there's no sandbox mode and there is only one set of missions so choosing a different avatar doesn't seem to affect it much.

It does play on Vista as I have Vista on both my pc and laptop.

its on GoG, which means it should work with Vista.

Best demo ever! (ok, but it was awesome), never found a copy of the full game

Very entertaining to play through once or twice, but it does lack replayability and has some annoying bugs. The biggest flaw IMO is that you only get to build two bases in the entire game. That seriously hurts the desire to play it again. It's fun the first time through though, so a worthy budget-priced purchase if you like building sims.

Hahahaha It spreads!!! Sorry started playing this about 2 weeks ago and now about 10 people on my xfire friendslist and several more from steam are now playing it. I enjoy it a lot.

I found it quite replayable. Building different base configurations and styles, using traps, not using traps, all of it changes the game quite a bit.

I had some fun trying to figure out the optimum position for base entrances without exposing myself to the agents too much.

My main problem with the game was always those *&%@# soldiers. Take one step out of line and your whole island is flooded with ULTRA ELITE SOLDIERS OF DOOM who mow down your minions like nobodies business. And the firefights freak out the tourists, who run back home and tell the government how mean you are, which results in more soldiers....

That's why I built a big freezer, tagged everyone for death and left the base on constant yellow alert. You'd think that the governments would get suss about what's basically a second bermuda triangle but hey, pollies are stupid right?

Speaking of constant yellow alert, a handy trick for those who don't know it:
If you click the alarm button (red or yellow) a second time, the alert level stays the same, but the siren stops.

Useful trick if you wan't to avoid having to have everybody drop what they're doing to run and get guns every ten minutes.
