    Default Congressional overreaction does something good for once!

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/0..._n_294949.html

    In their haste to condemn ACORN, congressional Republicans may have just cut off federal funding to the military-industrial complex. Companies like Blackwater and Northrop-Grumman could be out on their rear ends.

    I'm eager to see how the people who proposed this bill plan to back out of it now that their supply of bri-, I mean, lobbyist contributions is on the line.

    It's a bit of a problem for the Republicans, though. In their zeal to go after ACORN they've put themselves in an unfortunate (for them...and others receiving regular bribes from companies about to get their federal funding cut off) situation. They can't just say "Oh, well, all is forgiven now." At least, I HOPE the American public isn't THAT shortsighted and stupid. And they can't make the bill so it JUST targets ACORN, as mentioned in the article.

    In an ideal world, this would mean that a great deal of the corruption in US politics just got purged with cleansing fire. Alas, even if it's passed, loopholes will be found.

    Still, it's good for laughs. Politicians screw themselves for once!

    It's a sad reflection when we talk of Bribery and Corruption as common-place within our governments.

    If the pass the bill, I would be inclined to commend them rather than laugh at them.

    If the bill actually limits corruption that is. I'm not entirely sure how it would be applied.

    But it's a glorious day when the government itself does something about it. Even if it was by accident.

    @Sasaki Kojiro
    Indeed. If McCain or any of my other congresspeople vote for it I'll have to send him a nice letter.

    It has always been so, no matter in what form . And according to history, the late 1800s in US have witnessed the peak of corruption, as everything was solely dependent on it. The "Gilded" Age.

    What was your comment meant to be?

    I think you'll find that the Blackwaters & ACORNs, when confronted with too many ethics problems tend to morph into another "unknown to the public" organization by changing their name. Because, well, the politician & political party that collects the most free speech wins.
