    Default Strange diplomacy trades

Patch 1.4 caught me in the middle of an Ottoman prestige campaign. I didn't want to abandon it, so I went along. The game runs smoothly with all the changes this new patch implemented - so far, so good.

But there were two strange territory deals that happened around me and I wondered if it's only because the patch was applied to an old campaign - or is it something consistent that you've noticed as well.

    1. At war with Maratha, besieging their last continent city. They also own Ceylon and that's the next target (the port is blockaded, anyway)

Maratha's turn. They sally, lose the battle but manage to keep the city. Out of nowhere a support army appears and heads to the besieged city. It gets intercepted and destroyed.

End of AI turn. Ceylon is now owned by Savoy. Savoy? Jeez...

    2. At war with the Russians. Big battles all around, invasions etc. I manage to conquer Kiev and march several armies towards Moscow and 2 other remote provinces in the East. The Russians counter-attack in the open and lose a battle somewhere on the road to Moscow.

End of AI turn. 3 Russian provinces are now owned by Spain, France and Austria. The Russians keep only Moscow and Belarus.

Now that was strange - did anybody else experience this?

    (I'm playing H/H).

The AI is certainly more active now, and almost always sends in ships or troops to continue the war.

As for those countries extending as far as Russia, I haven't seen it. Consistently, I see France invade the Netherlands within the first 10-ish years of the game. Unfortunately they can't hold onto it for a while and so Netherlands pops up again a few years later.

Playing as France I was concentrating on the Americas and had not taken anything at all in Europe or India.

Around 1720 I had a pop up from Mughal empire, after reading and rereading it to double check I accepted it before they realised what they had done ;)

Basically they offered me Hindustan I think it is,the place where you recruit Ghoorkas or Ghurkas however they spell it , in return for 2 agriculture techs and 4000 gold.

Certainly seems as though diplomactic deals are more varied than before even though some are still mad like offering trade rights and if you refuse the price just keeps going up and up as if thats going to make you change your mind ;)

As Russia the UK keeps trying to trade me Jamaica for Astrakhan....very odd indeed.

I continued a GB campaign and saw that Prussia, Westfalia, or one of the other blue-colored German states had somehow acquired Tunisia from the Barbary Pirates.

Playing as the Marathas I swapped the southern bit of mainland India for Maine from the 13 colonies. It might prove to be interesting.
There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

I think they MAY have gone a little overboard in correcting the value the AI puts on military access.

As Russia, I continuously get offers form the Ottomans and Swedes along the lines of, "Hey, give us infinite military access and 10,000 gold and we'll give you five turns of military access! Good deal, huh?"

    It's a little insulting, really :\

Rest assured that that was not trade.

That is their capital region and it has to be captured.

I have seen Savoy take it, France take it, GB take it, even the Knights of St. John, but if someone else took it and traded it away I would be a bit surprised...
