Well, its main function is to start up EB. That is the only way you can play EB, unless you modded it to start up in some other manner.

    Right?

Hi Aemilius Paulus and much thanks for your answer.
My problem is this : I change (editing) the file MAP.REGIONS (change the frontier/limits of only one province), but when i play the game, the map is the original, without my alteration. Why? I don't know. I'm crazing.
    Thanks you still !!

Uhh, sorry, I have had the similar problems when I attempted to modify the IBFD map files, although not that specific one file. As much as I wish I could, I cannot help you here, out of my ignorance. Also, I do not know what you did yourself, so I cannot really identify the mistake you made. There are some common problems though, and one of them is using Notepad to edit data.

If you are editing EDU (export.desc.units), I have found Notepad to be satisfactory. However, when editing other files with standard-issue Windows Notepad, I have caused game crashes and malfunctions. So use TextPad, an advanced text editor which preserves the many nuances of RTW text documents, such as spacing.

    Thanks you. Hallo.
Hmm, suspicious. This usually happens when there are more than one file that controls that, so they each overwrite each other. Yes, trivial script usually does the overwriting I believe.

Wait a minute or two and I will go and check if there are any other files associated with map.regions file. Is that its exact file name? I need to know the exact name, so I can search for it.

Apprently there are two files, one is MAP_REGIONS and the other is MAP_REGIONS_safe. Also, I seriously doubt an image file is responsible for map borders. That does not make sense. A computer cannot read a basic image file and get commands from it. There are map coordinates, by number. There must be a file responsible for them. You need to edit that file most importantly. I will try to find it.

EDIT: On the other hand, I have little understanding of how .TGA files interact, so I may be wrong here.

Yes, definitely, editing an image file by itself has little effect. Does anyone else know what map.rwm does?

In any case, here is a guide for adding new regions, but it should work for modifying current regions as well. See if that helps. Then after reading that, you can ask more questions if you have any.

ok, you to be right. i must to find which is the diabolical file. I have executed tha alteration of the filke MAP_REGIONS.tga with GIMP (programm for editing) on RTW vanilla (BASE) (original game) and my alteration to work very well, and i don't know why the same alteration don't work on EB.
