Hell, more than half of the doctorates in US are held by foreigners. Bleak times. US has rather brief school-times in comparison.
But the longer school hours is debatable... There are many factors here. What is not, however, debatable, is that summer break must be diminished in length. I forget practically all my maths during the summer. That is merely the main factor. Summers are detrimental to learning, and much time is squandered on simply the re-assertion of data students lost. Summers are indeed a relic of older, agricultural times and they are anachronistic in today's urbanised America. I hate to say this, but you are merely conveying an impression to me of a student who dislikes those policies simply because they will require you to work and study more... Please show me how I am incorrect to deduce thusly.
