Can't launch EB, please help !

I love the original game, this mod seems even better, yet I've just spent almost
an entire day getting this thing to work and it still won't.
I have installed RTW to the C drive, nothing more specific like program files because from
my obsessive forum reading I concluded that this could be the problem. My version of Rome is 1.5, and for
EB I have the 1.2. Now when I try to launch, it flashes to a black screen for a moment like it's about to launch, ocasionally it even goes to that very first screen you get after the intro movies, but then it suddenly returns to the desktop. Most of the time without any error report, but a few times it mentioned the following : Can't open file 'EB/preferences/preferences.txt' and then saying it can't be located. Please guys, I'd love to check this out, this is a dream to everyone interested in this historical period. Help me out.

Hi and welcome to the forums!

I would first suggest to use the shortcut, created in you RTW folder (must be something like "EB-Singleplayer"), maybe that works.

Try to disable videos (if you are using the trivial-script from the program files, simply uncheck the option) or add -nm to your EB shortcut.

Otherwise, please run a validation test and post the result here.
