Yes that would be how it works. There's no other way for a bodyguard upgrade to happen other than the MOT event. Given your playing as the romans you can control when the MOT happens just don't let any of your cities in Italy become a huge city and the MOT event won't happen, this will help if you don't want to have the Singulares before their historical time.

Thanks for the answer. I'll edit the file and trigger MOT around 130 BC.

Edit: Just realized, that the Singulares are an imperial unit. Duh.

Doesn't work for me because I already got the March of Times

What I did:

1. Delete the "generals_unit" property for Eqvites Consvlares. (This ensures all your generals unit to be Singvlares from very beginning).

2. Change soldier number in Eqvites Consvlares to 25 (To make it a regular heavy cavalry)

3. Enable recruitment of Eqvites Consvlares at Imperial Palace (Only for Romani).

Now I have Singvlares as Bodyguard and Consvlares as a recruitable heavy cavalry.

Finally, if you want, change the construction and maintenance cost for Consvlares, or simply leave them as they are.
