Did anyone else see the two-hour movie/pilot for the new series? I was able to catch it earlier this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Well, it's actually a 90 minute pilot, but to be honest I thought the whole thing was a little bit "meh". Increasingly Stargate has become just like any other Sci-Fi show, the idea that humans don't have spaceships and are at a massive dissadvantage is a distant memory.

I'm watching SG-1 on Hulu right now. I forgot about SGU on Friday. It looked a little like BSG in the Stargate universe. I find Atlantis annoying as hell but SG-1 is pretty good.

    Thumbs up Re: Stargate Universe

From what I've been reading, there won't be any people dressed up in plastic costumes acting as aliens that speak English anymore.

I have great hopes for SGU.

I quite like Stargate. One of the best things I like about it is that it had a healthy dose of humour mixed in with all the sci-fi. When it finally finds its way down under in a few decades I'll be sure to watch it.

Watched the premiere, wasn't really impressed with Battlestar Gatelactica. Honestly, nothing good has ever come out of the whole "trapped in another universe" premise. I'll keep watching, though. I sat through 7 seasons of Star Trek Voyager, this can't be any worse.

I like SG-1, all the others are boring.

I'm deliberately resurrecting this thread as I've just caught up with SGU yesterday, currently running at S02E03.
    I'm quite enthusiastic.
Although I had a couple of difficulties with the high conflict potential among the crew for the first episodes, I came to like exactly that now.
This dark, rusty, somehow still uncontrollable ship and the sometimes extremely difficult people aboard (teamed with some very interesting character setups) is quite a successful formula IMO.
I found it very refreshing that this wasn't about "step through the gate, defeat villains, save world, head back last second".
Does anyone else actually like the show?

Not a Stargate fan. Star Trek DS9= best Sc-Fi series ever anyway.

Early Stargate SG1 stuff is pretty crap really in fact it's as bad as the early TNG stuff you know the usual pathetic creature episodes that are helped by the noble heroes.

After TNG got cancelled they pumped a bit more money into it and there was more of a story arc to it better stories etc it was a good show but it prob went on a bit too long.

I tell ye whats a good sci-fi show is Fringe theres comedy an plenty action and even though the episodes are generally about pathetic creatures every week they have weaved that into the mythology of the show too.
