Annoying secondary weapons

In my current casse campaign I have been putting Rycalawre in my armies and I've noticed that practically every time they are fighting most of them switch to fighting with spears instead of their swords. Can anyone tell me how to stop this from happening or tell me how to change the files so their only weapon is the sword.

Spears are probably their primary weapon?

For 2ndary weapons, press alt and click attack. For primary weapons, I just re-click attack on the enemy normally.
