Default AV Comparatives August 2009 Report

Since AV business is much of an industry than anything else, coming across with an independent review is a hard job.

I guesss I've found one here. And they have a report dated August 2009 here (The one that says "on-demand comparative").

Any ideas/experiences about the so-told "winners/losers" ? That review made me change to Avast Antivirus and I'm currently experimenting with that one.

Note: The report, as all others on the website are, comes in PDF format.

Based on raw detection rates and false positives I'd pretty much agree with those results. When based on cost, overhead (bloat), ease of use, features etc, it's very different. Many of the mainstream AV programs are subscription deals where you have to pay anually to renew the licence or lose updates (making it essentially useless).

I think I will stick with the Nagamasatek®/LENSKY™ Common Sense Edition 2009 suite until my PC gets eaten by camels.

Avast looks good in terms of ability.

    But, price? Overhead?

Yes, you are correct. Just started a download to see.

Probably because they didn't fill the programme full of junk.
