    Default Having a nap

These days I like to have a nap during the evening, usually 30-45 mins, or an hour tops.

I actually feel quite refreshed after doing this, usually I'll just go on my computer and then start to doze off for a bit.

So am I being like a geriatric, or does anyone else here do this?

My father naps, so I'm terrified of doing the ame. I already look like a clone of him, so I most definetely do not want to become him.

I'll take naps occasionally, but not on a daily basis. I know Kong, from the chat, does the same thing as you.

I really don't nap at all. Once I wake up I find it really hard to go back to sleep until 11 or 12 (23:00 or 0:00), even if I am really tired.

Naps are amazing, but I generally try not to take them unless absolutely necessary. Most of the time now I take them between my classes if I don't have anything else to do. Over the summer, when I worked two jobs, I sometimes napped during my breaks. Good stuff.

Of course, that's not to say I indulge in them all the time. I was taking a nap just about every day for a couple weeks straight earlier this month (being trained in as a manager at a new business, so it's been pretty chaotic until recently), but on average I nap only about once every/every other week.

Amen. I am learning that myself as I have to pull all-nighters, and then use the lunch break to nap in the Uni. 30 minutes in the library and I am fresh as ever.

However, I am not a nap person and I have never really taken any naps until now.

The only time I feel like a nap is when it's impossible for me to take one. I'm an early to bed early to rise type, and napping will throw my body clock outta whack. I struggle with that stinking "Day light Savings Time" change over as it is.

I heard that taking naps reduces the quality of the night time sleep. Supposedly it is the quality that matters, and not the quantity. I don't know, but for me it is hard enough to manage to sleep at night, so I won't even bother to try day time.

I don't like taking naps, usually becasue when I wake up, I feel grumpy and angry. However, these past weeks, I've been having to sleep 3 hrs or less on repeated times. On those times, I feel like dying the day after. But, I discovered that if I take a 2hr nap, I'll wake up as good as new. So basically I'm like aemilius, I didn't use to do it, but now I've been forced to several times by now.

I don't take regular naps, but probably twice a week I'll zonk out midday for an hour or two. I simply feel tired more often this semester for some reason.

I think has something to do with getting older. When I was in my early twenties, it seemed like I could go without sleep for days, but now if I miss the sleep that I'm used to getting I can barely make it through the day.

I leave myself in a constantly sleep-deprived state, so over the last month or two a nap has become a surprisingly regular occurrence. In fact, I woke up from one 10 minutes ago.

1-2am nights and 7-8am mornings is not a good lifestyle choice. Can't wait until I get on holidays.

Gah. My sleep cycle is the same. Absolutely terrible. I feel so lethargic this whole semester.

That's luxury to me, I don't go to sleep till 3-3:30 and get up at 7:30, for 4 days a week. On two days I'm up at 8:30, and on Saturdays I'll sleep till 11-12.

    Ah, Saturdays.

I've got 30 or so years on most of you guys, so you discount my experience if you like.

The Army taught me how to "power nap". When you're on a 72-hour mission/exercise, you can train yourself to take little 15 minute shut-eye times during lulls in the action, or awaiting transport, or whatever. It breaks up the 72 hours into more manageable 6-8 hour blocks.

Mrs. Kukri hates that I can fall asleep anywhere, anytime - and wake myself almost like clockwork, refreshed. Like most here, once she closes her eyes, she has to sleep at least 3-4 hours straight, or she is groggy and grumpy, so I guess that's "normal" for most folks.
Be well. Do good. Keep in touch.
