Default Re: The Thirty Years War

    -Year 1619-
    from January to June
The French-Swiss war continued almost like in previous months. France was the offencive side and destroyed small Swiss army in Milan. Half of that territory is occupied by French and most likely the other half will fall soon too. While Louis XIII armies were victorious in Italy, their campaign in Germany was stopped by large Swiss army when they tried to occupy a small province near the border of Switzerland.

In Austria, Ferdinand II called the Catholic League with it's army to help him against the Ottoman Empire. Soon both Imperial and Leagues armies moved against their enemy and occupied most of Hungary and few provinces on the coast of Adriatic Sea. After defeating a small Ottoman force near Transylvania they finally understood why there had been so few enemy soldiers defending the border. Mighty forts were built by the Turks and without the siege artillery it was impossible to continue this campaign.

Other news from Europe mention that in south, both Portugal and Spain gained new territories. Spain received lands in Italy from small states who looked for protection while Portugal started the conquest of Algeria. In Southern Germany, Saxony united more states under it's rule. They took some lands just days before Bohemians could claim them. This can't be good for the relations of these two states. In Scandinavia, Sweden gathered troops and ships near Kattegat and in Eastern Europe Transylvania increased it's size after they received some lands in Moldavia from the Ottomans.

    Events:

    More money or else!
The excessive recruitment of mercenaries have made them too arrogant. They demand more money!
From this turn onwards all mercenary units recruitment cost and upkeep have been doubled.
    Guns'n'Cannons!
After the French lost a battle against the Swiss Pikemen, rulers of the European states demanded better cannons and guns to defeat those Pikemen from distance in the future.
New units: Musketeers of the Guard, Dragoons and Field Artillery with new stats.
In order to get these, players must:
1)declare one of their cities as their capital(if it is lost then player will receive PO penalty and he can not recruit upgraded units).
2)pay 10000$ to "upgrade their barracks and industry".
New units can be recruited only in capitals.
These units are not available for Ottomans, Transylvania and Russia.

Ibn, what happened to the land-trade agreement?

I went through orders and then took care of the diplomacy. So, France took that hex in S-Germany before the land deal thus nullifying your deal.

Couldn't you do the others then? So diplomatically speaking, I only hold claim to that land? I don't mind doing that, makes the talks between me and France more interesting.

(Since I was going to be the owner of that hex, could the whole deal go ahead without that hex changing from France's hands?)

I'm going to restore the lands of the Rhenish Palatinate back to the Elector Palatine, the King of Bohemia. So, I think the Hex I currently occupy, plus the ones to the North and South East of it would be afair approximation of the Paltinate's lands (Whilst I keep Alsace for myself)

Yes, you only hold the claim on that land.

Since that hex was in that deal then I decided not to go with it. However, if both sides agree that they want to go ahead with the deal no matter what then I will carry them out. In the end of this turn though.

Ibn I remember recruiting a ship this turn.
