How do I recruit Kretan Archers?

Yeah, Archers are just broken in EB. They suck, using them is boring and takes time and the AI simply uses them without any effect. Maybe making them so weak wasnt a good idea

ＰＳ： I know its just my personal point of view, but atacking with huge stacks of heavy infatry is just so much more satisfing in EB than archery. And with archers you lose against an numerical superior opponent with good general. You are just dead. If you dont believe me play with Saba a campain.

Nope. Archers are just fine in EB. I'd even venture to say that Kretans are broken the other way, because of their mysteriously high range. And I've played more than one Saba campaign (at least two), though I haven't finished any of them yet (due to new patches/computer crash/...). Still I managed to dominate the Ptolies (as in: leave them with two desert provinces) and successfully push back the AS at the same time.
If you don't believe me, play Lusotannan, Casse, or Swêboz and visit some faction that prefers archers, like Pahlava. Good luck


As a side note, if you want 2hp-AP-HideAnywhere-SuperRange-Thermonuclear Archers of Doom for a change, you can download and play FATW (a very good mod) and click on faction "Elves".

I hate archers...... when playing as the Aedui I had to go with slingers and they were no match.

I was actually sarcastic, but oh hey. I hated the Cretan spam too when I was with Swebóz, I didn't have anything useful (which didn't perished in a minute) to counter them. But it was a different story with Pontos...
