Other Factions?

Is it possible to play as the smaller factions such as morroco or westphalia? And if so, how?

Hi there Knight of Ne!

You can play as any faction you wish! However, it requires either some knowledge, or the weak and silly way of just downloading a mod to make it work. I was going to provide a link to a current mod, but I can't find a link to one that works with the current version of the game, presuming you have that.

So, search the googles or delve into the deep depths of doing it yourself, with my help.

Ok, thanks for the help. I'll probably wait around for a mod, doing that sort of stuff myself makes me far to nervous.

Ok, this may sound real stupid or noob like, but i can't for the life of me find the damn file i need to replace with the mod on my comp. It's like my Empire has hide itself so i can't mod it at all. I really want to play these other minor factions, but if i can't get this to work, then i'm going back to MTW2.

Do you have to unpack the downloaded file or something because my computer doesn't recognise the filetype and i can't replace those files and get it working.

Better yet, play the Imperial Splendor mod. They have given many smaller factions a complete overhaul, including unique units, etc. The mod can be found under "hosted mods" section on twcenter.net.

7zip is the program that can unpack the mods.

Startpos.esf and scripting.lua are in:

C:/program files/steam/steamapps/commom/empire total war/data/camapigns/main/

Quick question about the mod...how do the victory conditions work for the short and long campaigns? Have you set them in the mod for each faction?

It's not my mod so you'll have to see yourself.

Though I think that some Minor factions have the same victory conditions as GB...

I used the mod, and it works very well. From what I see, all the minor factions have their own faction victory requirements. Thanks for the link and the help with finding the game. I'm now off to conquer Italy and make Rome glorious again!
