I can speak chinese, though can't say anything nice. My spanish is incredibly rusty despite my always hearing it. A little german, french, italian, and norwegian.

That is true. There also the problem that most people think that portuguese is the same as spanish and that in Brazil everyone speak spanish as well. That couldn't be more wrong. Brazilians DEFINETLY don't speak spanish, although it might sound the thing to an english speaker, native portuguese speakers get insulted by this.
I don't know if any of you guys remember, but current US president George W Bush, said that Brazil's capitol was BUENOS AIRES!!! That is in ARGENTINA!! Gosh, that thing was really annoying...
Shame on you Bush.Originally Posted by Jedi Bruno

Well... Yes. It is somewhat close to Portuguese. Perhaps you can understand something with the help of a dictionary. But both languages sound very much like each other.Originally Posted by King Jan III Sobieski

Have you ever been to Paraguay, Jedi Bruno? I lived in Asuncion for a while. Looking at a map it doesn't look too far away from Rio Grande do Sul, although also coming from a big country like you do my concept of distance is at odds with that of many of the friends I've made here.

No. I have never been at Paraguay. But, indeed it is very close to Rio Grande do Sul. Actually, Paraguay shares the border with brazilian state of Paraná, which is at the same region of Rio Grande do Sul.
I don't know much of Paraguay though...
Where are you from Kim?
Hello!
Nope, I don't speak Portuguese.
But I speak Norwegian and English. I understand Swedish and Danish (off course), and a little French and German (just a little that is).
This has been a most pleasure, goodbye!
Still no Portuguese speakers. But I have not give up yet!![]()

I suppose I'm from Texas. At least, that's the place I lived in the longest. I was born on the east coast of the U.S. and have lived all around the country, a few years in Sicily, and a few months in Asuncion, Paraguay, for an internship.![]()
