You have to re-channel your energies. You dress up but stay home and help hand out candy (and you can always snitch from the candy jar) If you are really into it, decorate the yard/house/apartment (blacklights are great) - the kids seem to appreciate it. And if you are REALLY into it, you can rig something up to scare the older kids (key word - "older").
My neighbor dressed as a pumpkin headed scarecrow one year and sat next to his front door - he sat the way a stuff dummy sits - and would scare the older kids as they approached the door. It worked sometimes, and didn't other times. But the best was on older teenager, a guy over 6 ft tall. He was scared witless. He whipped around to run away, lost his traction on the grass and dropped straight to the ground. It was hysterical.
