    Thumbs up

I just saw that my local Best Buy store had the old Kirk Douglas/Tony Curtiss epic viking movie out on DVD.

Might just be the thing to get in the mood for the Vikings expansion to MTW

I saw it as a kid when it came out, and I seem to remember that it was pretty entertaining.

Here is a rundown of the plot:

If its going to be a viking movie, it should be directed by Hrafn Gunnlaugsson..
Death to light, to law, to love!
Cursed be moon and stars above!
    May darkness everlasting old
that waits outside in surges cold
drown Manwë, Varda, and the sun!
May all in hatred be begun,
and all in evil ended be
in the moaning of the endless Sea!

The blonde guy gets thrown in a pit and his hand gets bitten off - that is what I remember.

Is this the one of the adventures of Eric the Red in New Foundland? The only part I can remember is the battle scene at the end with the Indian tribe. The Vikings are fighting their way back to the longboat and didn't appear to have a chance till one of them, a huge guy with an axe, stands his ground on the beach, sacrificing himself, and holds off the natives while the others scramble to safety. It was a black and white movie, but I don't recall any of the actors.

Bah, don't bother with that. Just stick with 13th Warrior.
