Bruttian Infantry cost vs Samnite Spearmen cost

I know that Watchman said that the defense skill values of Bruttian Infantry, Pontic Thorakitai and Armenian Medium Swordsmen should be raised to increase effectiveness. Never used Heavy German swords but they might suffer the same way. Also considered increasing the somewhat underwhelming Georgian Swordsmen.

There must have been a mistake with defense skills of sword units somewhere along the way.

The Germans are even worse
They dont take any usefull formations, constantly change between spears and swords, die like flies and kill noboy...

hastati samniti simply means a samnite equipped with a hasta. A hasta is simply a barbarian's name for a short spear.

Alt-clicking like a mad man solves the problem, but usually in the middle of a battle you don't have that much time.

In singleplayer the German Elites are MUCH better, as they get tons of stat bonuses from temples and wonders, in addition to a +3 in weapons from the blacksmith(only unit that does).
